Wolford House Fire

In the evening hours of November 18th, our neighbors, Erik & Mallory Wolford’s house caught on fire. Erik was working out-of-town and Mallory was woken up by her dog, Ketch, to realize that smoke had filled the house. By the time the fire department made it on scene, the fire had made it to the roof and cutting a huge hole in the side of their home was inevitable. The house has sustained extensive damage and this wonderful family has been displaced. Thankfully, Mallory and their two dogs and two cats, as well as all volunteers involved are safe and we are so grateful for that! Thank you to all the staff and volunteers from Whitewood & Sturgis Fire Departments, as well as, Holly with the Red Cross.

Now, if you have the pleasure of knowing the Wolford’s, you know that they are the kindest and most compassionate people you will ever meet. They are extremely hard working and are the first people to give a helping hand and would bend over backwards for ANYONE - even a complete stranger. Mallory had even attended a benefit for someone else that night before coming home for the evening. You will also know that they are the last people to ask for help and just setting this account up is asking them to be completely out of their comfort zone. However, they would give everything they had for others and so I believe the right thing to do is shower them with some South Dakota family love and help them through this unfortunate event.

We are going into this holiday season and what a perfect gift to give! Let’s help them get back on their feet and back in their home for the holidays ❤️
