Wojciech Maslowski's ALS fundraiser

In February, 2020 our dear friend Wojciech (Pronounced by us as Voy-Tek) received some of the worst news you can possibly imagine. He had been diagnosed with ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a neuro-degenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It is a progressive disease, which means it gets worse over time. It affects nerves in your brain and spinal cord that control your muscles. As your muscles get weaker, it gets harder for you to walk, talk, eat, and breathe. Today, medication and therapy can slow ALS and reduce discomfort, but there's no cure.
For a year Wojciech visited with doctors to determine the source of his undeniable weight loss, a rasp in his throat and utter loss of energy. Blood test after blood test, MRIs, CT scans all came back normal. Since that day in February, 2020, life has changed dramatically for Wojciech, his beautiful wife July and their two spectacular teen children. There will be countless changes they will need to make in their daily lives which will become part of their new reality.
Wojciech’s progression has accelerated since his diagnosis and now, more than ever, the Maslowski Family can use our help. The ironic thing is that, for many of us, Wojciech has always been the go-to guy when you need a hand, no matter the task he is always willing to help others. Wojciech has been self-employed as a driver and carpenter for years. Because of Wojciech’s loyalty, personality and work ethic he even did some contract driving work for Ameritel. This is how we had the pleasure of getting to know Wojciech and his family for years now. He is always filled with a twinkle in his eye and the biggest of smiles, even now.
There will be extraordinary expenses coming in this family’s direction in addition to their humble cost of living. Wojciech can no longer work. To makes things even more dizzying, Wojciech has no medical insurance. We are hopeful that as a community we can help raise enough money to reduce the financial burden that ALS can have on a family and allow the Maslowskis to not have to worry as much about that part of this fight.
Wojciech has done for others for years; the time has come where he needs our help and needs it fast. ALS is an unforgiving disease and the progression will continue to accelerate. Time is not on our side.
Wojciech, we are all so proud to call you our friend, nobody deserves this diagnosis. We are all standing by you and praying for you and your family through every step of this process and will do all we can to help.
