Our family was shocked and terrified to wake up this morning to find our usually perky and playful 9 month old Doberman Pinscher puppy, Canela, dragging herself out of her kennel by her front legs. We rushed to her and found that overnight she had lost all function in her hind legs and could no longer walk, sit-up, or relieve herself on her own. Upon rushing her to the local vet we were informed that her partial paralysis may be due to Wobbler Syndrome. Also known as Cervical Vertebral Instability (CVI), this neurological disease consists of spinal compression focused in the neck region of the dog which may result in an inter-vertebral disk protrusion. This basically means that, due to a slipped spinal disk in her neck Canela is suffering intense amounts of pain and discomfort and may be permanently paralyzed from the waist down.  We are in desperate need of at least $5000 in order to begin Canela's healing journey. The funds would cover Neurological consultation, Anti-Inflammatory medication, Pain medication, Physical Therapy, and either or both an MRI / CT scan to properly asses the damage to Canela's spine. By following this process there is a high probability that Canela may fully recover and walk on her own again! Just 3 months ago our little family was devastated by the lose of another furry member of our family, a lovely German Shepard named Sam, we cannot imagine going through that pain again.
