DEUTSCH: Sofia lebte 35 Jahre lang in Deutschland, ohne je Kontakt zu Tieren zu haben. Vor rund 20 Jahren zog sie nach Griechenland – und dort sah sie zum ersten Mal das große Leid der Straßenhunde: verletzte, kranke Tiere, unkontrollierte Vermehrung, Welpen, die auf der Straße sterben. Sie konnte nicht wegsehen. Also begann sie zu helfen – ganz allein, mit ihrem eigenen Geld. Heute führt sie ein Shelter in Agiokampos, in dem über 100 gerettete Hunde leben. Sie versorgt sie täglich medizinisch, organisiert Kastrationen, nimmt vor allem hilflose Welpen auf und vermittelt viele von ihnen nach Deutschland. Sofia bekommt keine staatliche Hilfe. Keine Zuschüsse, keine Förderung. Alles, was sie tut, ist nur durch private Spenden möglich. Doch die Kosten sind enorm: Jeden Monat braucht es rund 10.000 Euro, um Futter, Parasitenschutz, Medikamente und Tierarztkosten zu decken. Notfälle wie Operationen kommen noch obendrauf. Sofia macht diese Arbeit fast allein – 365 Tage im Jahr. Damit sie weitermachen kann, braucht sie jetzt unsere Unterstützung.

ENGLISH: Sofia lived in Germany for 35 years without ever having contact with animals. Around 20 years ago, she moved to Greece – and there, for the first time, she saw the heartbreaking reality of life on the streets: injured, sick animals, uncontrolled breeding, and puppies dying by the roadside. She couldn’t look away. So she started helping – all on her own, using her own money. Today, she runs a shelter in Agiokampos that is home to over 100 rescued dogs. She provides them with daily medical care, organizes neutering campaigns, takes in vulnerable puppies, and finds loving homes for them in Germany. Sofia receives no government support – no grants, no funding. Everything she does is only possible through private donations. But the costs are enormous: around €10,000 per month are needed to cover food, parasite prevention, medication, and veterinary care. Emergency operations come on top of that. Sofia does this work almost entirely on her own – 365 days a year. To keep going, she now needs our help.

Πριν περίπου 20 χρόνια μετακόμισε στην Ελλάδα – και τότε, για πρώτη φορά, αντίκρισε τη σκληρή πραγματικότητα των αδέσποτων: τραυματισμένα, άρρωστα ζώα, ανεξέλεγκτες γεννήσεις, κουτάβια να πεθαίνουν στον δρόμο. Δεν μπόρεσε να γυρίσει το βλέμμα αλλού. Άρχισε να βοηθά – μόνη της, με δικά της έξοδα. Σήμερα διαχειρίζεται ένα καταφύγιο στον Αγιοκάμπο με πάνω από 100 διασωθέντα σκυλιά. Τα φροντίζει καθημερινά, οργανώνει στειρώσεις, περιθάλπει κυρίως κουτάβια και βρίσκει οικογένειες για αυτά στη Γερμανία. Η Σοφία δεν λαμβάνει καμία κρατική ενίσχυση – ούτε επιδοτήσεις, ούτε χρηματοδότηση. Ό,τι κάνει, γίνεται μόνο χάρη σε ιδιωτικές δωρεές. Όμως τα έξοδα είναι τεράστια: χρειάζονται περίπου 10.000 ευρώ το μήνα για τροφή, αποπαρασιτικά, φάρμακα και κτηνιατρική περίθαλψη. Και οι επείγουσες επεμβάσεις είναι επιπλέον. Η Σοφία τα κάνει όλα σχεδόν μόνη της – 365 μέρες τον χρόνο. Για να συνεχίσει, χρειάζεται τώρα τη βοήθειά μας.

DEUTSCH: Was Sofia jeden Tag leistet, ist kaum in Worte zu fassen. Sie kümmert sich um über 100 Hunde – nicht im Team, nicht mit einem großen Verein im Rücken, sondern meistens völlig allein. Morgens beginnt ihr Tag mit Füttern, Näpfe säubern, Medikamente geben, Zwinger reinigen, Kot entfernen. Sie macht sauber, versorgt die Tiere medizinisch, kümmert sich um Neuzugänge, erledigt Papierkram, organisiert Transporte und telefoniert mit Tierärzten – und das alles Tag für Tag, bei jedem Wetter. Die meiste Zeit steht sie dabei wirklich allein im Shelter. Nur ab und zu kommen freiwillige Helfer vorbei, um sie für ein paar Tage oder Wochen zu unterstützen. Jeder einzelne Helfer ist für Sofia eine riesige Entlastung – und eine seelische Stärkung. Denn obwohl sie diese Arbeit mit Hingabe macht, ist sie kräftezehrend. Sie finanziert medizinische Behandlungen, Spezialfutter, Kastrationen, Medikamente, Strom, Wasser, Reparaturen – und das oft aus eigener Tasche, wenn Spenden fehlen. Rechnungen häufen sich, Notfälle kosten tausende Euro, und der Druck wächst jeden Tag. Deshalb haben wir das Spendenziel bewusst hoch angesetzt: 120.000 Euro – das deckt ein Jahr. Her mornings start with feeding, cleaning bowls, giving medication, washing kennels, removing waste. She cleans, handles medical care, looks after new arrivals, manages paperwork, organizes transports, and stays in contact with vets – every single day, in every kind of weather. Most of the time, she is truly alone at the shelter. Occasionally, volunteers come by to support her for a few days or weeks. Each and every helper is an enormous relief – and an emotional boost. Because although she does this work with love and dedication, it is exhausting. This video gives you a small glimpse into her daily life. GREEK: Αυτό που καταφέρνει η Σοφία κάθε μέρα είναι σχεδόν απίστευτο. Φροντίζει πάνω από 100 σκυλιά – όχι με ομάδα, ούτε με την υποστήριξη κάποιου μεγάλου οργανισμού, αλλά σχεδόν πάντα μόνη της. Τα πρωινά ξεκινάνε με τάισμα, καθάρισμα μπολ, χορήγηση φαρμάκων, καθαρισμό των χώρων, απομάκρυνση ακαθαρσιών. Καθαρίζει, παρέχει ιατρική φροντίδα, φροντίζει νέες αφίξεις, κάνει γραφειοκρατικά, οργανώνει μεταφορές, επικοινωνεί με κτηνιάτρους – κάθε μέρα, με κάθε καιρό. Τις περισσότερες μέρες είναι πραγματικά μόνη στο καταφύγιο. Μερικές φορές έρχονται εθελοντές για λίγες μέρες ή εβδομάδες. Κάθε βοήθεια είναι τεράστια ανακούφιση – και ψυχική ενίσχυση. Γιατί, όσο κι αν αγαπάει αυτό που κάνει, η δουλειά αυτή εξαντλεί. Αυτό το βίντεο δείχνει ένα μικρό κομμάτι από την καθημερινότητά της. Όχι όμορφες εικόνες, αλλά πραγματική, σκληρή δουλειά για τα ζώα. Η Σοφία δίνει κάθε μέρα τον εαυτό της – για πάνω από 100 σκυλιά που χωρίς εκείνη δεν θα είχαν καμία ελπίδα. Αλλά όπως είναι τα πράγματα τώρα, δεν μπορεί να συνεχίσει για πολύ ακόμη. Όχι επειδή τα παρατάει – αλλά γιατί τα έξοδα του καταφυγίου, που ξεπερνούν τις 10.000 € το μήνα, είναι αδύνατο να καλυφθούν χωρίς στήριξη. Καλύπτει ιατρικές θεραπείες, ειδική τροφή, στειρώσεις, φάρμακα, ρεύμα, νερό, επισκευές – και πολλές φορές από την τσέπη της, όταν δεν φτάνουν οι δωρεές. Οι λογαριασμοί συσσωρεύονται, τα επείγοντα περιστατικά κοστίζουν χιλιάδες, και το άγχος μεγαλώνει μέρα με τη μέρα. Για αυτό ο στόχος είναι υψηλός: 120.000 € – για να καλυφθεί ένας ολόκληρος χρόνος. Ένας χρόνος που θα επιτρέψει στη Σοφία να κάνει αυτό που έχει σημασία: να σώζει ζωές. Χωρίς φόβο για τον επόμενο λογαριασμό του κτηνιάτρου. Χωρίς να παλεύει κάθε μέρα μόνη της. Τώρα χρειάζεται ανθρώπους δίπλα της. Με δωρεές. Με συμπαράσταση. Με το μήνυμα: Δεν είσαι μόνη.

DEUTSCH: Zwischen über 100 Hunden, unzähligen Aufgaben und kaum Schlaf gibt es jetzt endlich einen kleinen Lichtblick: das Helferhaus. Ein fester Ort, an dem Menschen wohnen können, die kommen, um Sofia zu unterstützen. Ein Rückzugsort mit Dach, Bett und Bad – direkt neben dem Shelter. Das Haus wurde mit viel Liebe eingerichtet, damit Helfer nicht mehr auf dem Boden schlafen müssen, keine teuren Hotels zahlen und trotzdem nah am Geschehen sind. Denn jede helfende Hand ist Gold wert – und Sofia ist oft allein. Die Gesamtkosten für das Haus lagen bei 25.000 Euro. Ein großer Teil wurde schon finanziert, doch es fehlen noch 7.000 Euro. Geld, das jetzt gebraucht wird, um diese wichtige Struktur abzusichern – für mehr Unterstützung, für mehr Entlastung, für mehr Hoffnung. Wer hilft, schafft mit – an einem Ort, der bleibt.

ENGLISH: In the middle of over 100 dogs, countless tasks, and barely any sleep, one small but powerful thing has finally become a reality: the volunteer house. A solid space where people can stay if they come to help Sofia. A place with a roof, a bed, and a bathroom – right next to the shelter. The house was lovingly set up so that volunteers no longer have to sleep on the floor, pay for expensive hotels, or be far from the animals. Every helping hand means the world – and Sofia is often completely on her own. The total cost for the house was €25,000. A big part is already covered, but €7,000 are still missing. Money urgently needed to secure this important support system – for more help, more relief, and more hope. If you help here, you’re building something that lasts.

GREEK: Μέσα σε ένα καταφύγιο με πάνω από 100 σκυλιά, αμέτρητες υποχρεώσεις και σχεδόν καθόλου ύπνο, κάτι όμορφο έγινε επιτέλους πραγματικότητα: το σπίτι των εθελοντών. Ένας σταθερός χώρος όπου μπορούν να μείνουν άνθρωποι που έρχονται να βοηθήσουν τη Σοφία. Με στέγη, κρεβάτι και μπάνιο – ακριβώς δίπλα στο καταφύγιο. Το σπίτι φτιάχτηκε με πολλή αγάπη, ώστε οι εθελοντές να μην χρειάζεται πια να κοιμούνται στο πάτωμα, να πληρώνουν ακριβά ξενοδοχεία ή να μένουν μακριά από τα ζώα. Κάθε βοηθητικό χέρι είναι ανεκτίμητο – και η Σοφία είναι συχνά εντελώς μόνη. Το συνολικό κόστος ήταν 25.000 €. Ένα μεγάλο μέρος έχει ήδη καλυφθεί, αλλά λείπουν ακόμα 7.000 €. Χρήματα που χρειάζονται τώρα, για να εξασφαλιστεί αυτός ο σημαντικός χώρος – για περισσότερη βοήθεια, ανακούφιση και ελπίδα. Όποιος βοηθάει εδώ, χτίζει κάτι που μένει.

DEUTSCH: Während das neue Helferhaus ein erster Lichtblick ist, sieht es direkt nebenan ganz anders aus: Das Shelter, in dem über 100 Hunde leben, ist alt, marode und zum Teil nur noch notdürftig funktionsfähig. Hier regnet es durch, Zäune wackeln, Böden sind kaputt – und dennoch ist es der einzige Ort, an dem die Hunde sicher sind. Im Video zeigt Sofia selbst, was dringend gemacht werden muss. Dinge, die man nicht sieht, wenn man nur Fotos anschaut – aber spürt, wenn man dort steht. Wo Futter gelagert wird, braucht es Schutz vor Feuchtigkeit. ENGLISH: While the new volunteer house is a ray of hope, just next door things look very different: the shelter, home to over 100 dogs, is old, run-down, and in many parts barely functional. Rain leaks through the roof, fences are shaky, and floors are broken – yet it’s the only safe place these dogs have. In the video, Sofia shows what urgently needs fixing. Things you don’t see in pictures, but you feel when you stand there. Where food is stored, it needs to be protected from moisture. Where sick dogs rest, there must be proper insulation. Η σκεπή στάζει, οι φράχτες είναι έτοιμοι να πέσουν, τα πατώματα είναι χαλασμένα – και όμως, είναι το μόνο ασφαλές μέρος για τα σκυλιά. Στο βίντεο, η Σοφία δείχνει τι χρειάζεται άμεσα επισκευή. DEUTSCH: Sofia weiß: Ohne Kastrationen wird sich das Leid auf den Straßen niemals verringern. Deshalb lässt sie Hunde kastrieren – nicht nur ihre eigenen, sondern auch Streuner, die danach an betreuten Futterstellen weiterleben. Dank eurer Hilfe konnten bereits 40 Hunde kastriert werden. Doch das reicht nicht. Jede Kastration verhindert ungewollten Nachwuchs – und damit viel Leid, das sonst entstehen würde. Enthalten ist auch ein Schutz gegen Mittelmeerkrankheiten, die für Straßenhunde oft tödlich sind. Kostenpunkt pro Kastration: ca. 200 Euro. Mit deiner Spende sorgst du dafür, dass Leid gar nicht erst entsteht – und Sofia diesen Kampf weiterführen kann.

ENGLISH: Sofia knows: without spaying and neutering, the suffering on the streets will never stop. That’s why she arranges surgeries – not only for her own dogs, but also for strays, who return to safe feeding spots afterwards. Thanks to your support, 40 dogs have already been sterilized – but many more still need help. Every procedure prevents unwanted puppies and a future full of pain and misery. Each surgery also includes protection against Mediterranean diseases, which are often deadly for strays. The cost per dog: around €200.
