Our son William Joel Ponce De León was born with a congenital heart defect on October 9th, 2017. The condition is called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. We knew from the start that our baby boy would require a series of surgeries to allow half of his heart to do all of the the work for him. He has gone through 2 of the main surgeries and an additional 3rd to reconstruct a folded over aortic valve. Unfortunately, our son contracted the flu after his second surgery and had multiple complications after. On top of his open heart surgeries, he has had multiple heart catheterizations, Lung bronchs, a short stint on ecmo/ life support, tracheostomy and multiple other procedures to keep our little boy as well as possible.
We were lucky enough to have our son home for a short 3 weeks between his first and second surgeries, but he has been stuck at Phoenix Children's hospital since December 21, 2017. Ashley and I try to visit him daily and bring his big brother and sister to visit him as well. He has slowly progressed having some great days with some bad days thrown in the mix. We still don't know when we are going to be able to bring our little boy home, but hope sooner than later.
Anyone who knows me , knows that I have a really hard time asking for help. Unfortunately Williams hospital and medical bills are starting to pile up. I am the only source of income as Ashley needs to be available in case of any emergencies. So it has been pretty tight for us the last few months. Any help is greatly appreciated and would help us get back on track and hopefully prepare our home to bring William home. Thank you for your time and consideration in helping my family!
