Hi, my name is Aliya and I’m 14 years old. I’m kindly requesting your help to support my 4 week expedition to Borneo which will take place next summer. For Borneo, I need to raise quite a lot of money, which is a tall mountain to climb - so I’ve therefore chosen to climb Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) this October!

Those of you who know me know I have a physical disability which is challenging at times, despite this I am driven to get to the top and I would be very grateful if you can sponsor me to do it.

Growing up by the sea has made me worried about how plastic pollution harms marine life, I’m intent on marine conservation and my ambition is to study marine biology.

I’m always looking for ways to learn about and make a positive impact on our marine environment and gain valuable experience that will help me in a future career.

I jumped at the chance to visit Borneo as it will be a life-changing experience where I will live as part of rural community to create sustainable changes.

For example, I’ll be working at a local recycling centre which gives people a place to recycle plastic waste so it doesn’t end up on the beaches. I’ll be helping to construct structures and stalls for eco-tourism to raise awareness of environmental issues. I hope to bring back knowledge and skills, to promote and share, about tackling waste and how to protect our marine life.
