Angey Taylor Childers Memorial Fund
Donation protected
I woke up in the wee hours of the morning to every parents worst nightmare. The police at my door telling me that my daughter was hurt and in the hospital clear across the country. I contacted the hospital and found out that she had been brought in having severe seizures and flat lined once already. Doctors were able to bring her back and placed her on a ventilator. Her left lung collapsed from the CPR so she had a tube in her chest. She was given a 70% chance of survival. Through a generous donation of airline miles by my sister, Susan, my husband, Deon and I, were able to come and be here with Angey. Sadly, Angey has steadily declined each day. Her kidneys and liver were barely functioning, if at all. Her brain began to swell too quickly to stop. Doctors were unable to relieve the pressure surgically due to her liver not functioning. Her blood would not clot and she would bleed out. Eventually the swelling would continue to squish her brain stem until she suffocates and dies. We were given the choice sitting by her side and waiting for this to happen or shutting off the machines and waiting for her body to tire out and quit. Since Angey is an organ donor, we are doing everything possible to honor this request.
