Hi my name is Jenn, I am fundraising for 2 of my closest friends.

Patsy and Donnie

These 2 have sure had a challenging journey the last 4 years. It really started in October 2020 when their son, Ryan Summers, passed away unexpectedly from an epidemic happening all around us. Can you imagine losing your child. I remember the support those 2 showed me when I experienced the loss of a child, thank you for being a friend Patsy and Donnie. Lets back up a little that year… Cancer shows up in the Langridge family, but hey Donnie was proactive and he knew he could kick prostate cancer in the ass, he even “rang the bell” at the Tom Baker Cancer institute. Now it is time to focus on what is important to they tell me, we are moving to Carbon, slow down the pace, enjoy the moment and watch the deer in the back yard with our morning coffee. Grandkids, they are their blessing. Donnie’s smile when they are around.. that’s priceless. Lets move to 2023, what Patsy is now diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, I remember the waiting for the results as we cried on the phone. Not looking great, but treatable for now.. lots of doctors appointments. Thank god for CPP disability for Patsy.. really I said that out loud, that’s enough if we lived in 1989. Its now 2024, Happy #@$%& New Year, Donnie isn’t feeling that great, lets check this out they say. What, the big “C” is back and spreading like an Alberta wildfire. Now in his bones and lymph nodes. The doctors say well we can try to make you feel comfortable and manage your pain… what that’s it? Now they have to tell the kids and the grandkids that papa is hurting and in so much pain. Work and driving are very painful and have become impossible. What can all of us do to help? Yeah Donnie has disability at work but that takes time, 4 months they say… WTF do Patsy and Donnie do now? That is where we all come in. That is what friends are for… and extended friends and family and kindness and empathy. This journey is theirs and they need our help. Lets do it everyone!
