Hi! My name is Ezra, my pronouns are he/him, and I'm trans️‍⚧️. Gender dysphoria has been something I've been struggling with ever since puberty started. At the time, I didn't know what I was feeling. I thought everyone felt discomfort around how they developed and felt mortified. As my chest grew, I became more uncomfortable with how I looked and how clothes fit me. I hated wearing and buying bras because I secretly didn't want a chest. Reflecting on my life, I always felt trapped in how I looked and how people perceived me based on my secondary sex characteristics. I've been wearing binders to ease the dysphoria, but it causes me tremendous pain. Working 5+ hours with it every day is very restricting and makes my job much harder. Top surgery has been something I didn't want to admit I wanted. Because that would mean facing the reality of who I am, which felt scary to me. Today, I'm bravely writing this to ask for some help. I have chosen to go with an in-network surgeon named Dr. George H. Rudkin from UCLA Health hospital. The exact number is unknown because I have to wait to see if insurance will cover most of it.
