My Mom’s Cancer Treatment Fund

Hi everyone, my name is Kimberly Moore. This is a really hard story for me to share but my family is in need and I’m hoping this will be a start.

Theresa (Teri) has been working in the North Rockland school district for 20 years. She is such an amazing, loving, hardworking, strong, and selfless woman. She goes out of her way to help everyone she meets. She is loved very much and means the world to her husband, 4 children, and 6 (soon-to-be 7) grandchildren.

For those of you that may know and for those of you that have yet to find out, I am writing on behalf of my mother, Theresa Knerr, who is 57 years old and has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer. She was admitted to the hospital with severe back pain and jaundice. After many tests, blood work, and X-rays the doctors performed a PTC and biliary drainage. They said because of the size of the mass, 4-7cm, it is unable to be surgically removed at this time and recommend starting chemotherapy and radiation to try and shrink it. She is urged that starting chemo immediately is necessary.

After doctors in NY put in a drain to remove toxins from her pancreas/liver she went looking for options ... through a family member she was introduced to an amazing team in Austria who have an innovative procedure to freeze out the tumor and possibly cure her (they have done it before). Her records were sent over and they had her come over ASAP ... unfortunately, when she arrived for the pre testing, the drain the Dr in NY put in caused a massive infection! She had to be hospitalized (in Austria) for heavy doses of antibiotics, they attempted to remove drain none invasively but couldn’t and are planning a procedure where they will have to go in through her side to remove it and replace it with a shunt. They put in a port and have begun chemo because it is aggressive and they hope to shrink it and stop growth!

Teri is the center of our family! She needs to get strong, come home to the states and then hopefully return to Austria in a few months to have the procedure as planned!

My father, siblings and myself are reaching out to all of our wonderful family and friends to try and help us raise the funds needed to help with treatment. Anything helps- $5 ANYTHING! Staying in Austria is expensive as well as the treatments there - then they will have medical bills here to continue treatments!
