Hello everyone, my name is Sheri, and for 20 years, I've poured my heart into gardening across Los Angeles. It's a profession that keeps me active and connected to nature, and I've always prioritized a healthy lifestyle. That's why it was such a shock last September when I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer.
My energy was immediately consumed by the intimidating journey ahead. I faced three challenging months of chemotherapy through the winter, followed by two surgeries in the spring, and a month of radiation in May. It was an incredibly difficult period, but I'm immensely grateful to share that my treatments have been successful.
From the beginning, I understood that maintaining a positive attitude was vital for a good outcome. My neighbors, friends, and family have all witnessed my commitment to this mindset, and it remains crucial as I move forward. The type of cancer I had carries a high risk of recurrence, so staying healthy and keeping my stress low is paramount.
Now that the intensity of treatment is subsiding, the emotional and financial realities are hitting hard. I was not able to work throughout my treatment, and unfortunately, my insurance has covered far less than anticipated. I'm now facing the daunting task of paying two years of deductibles with UCLA healthcare, along with significant expenses accumulated on credit cards.
Asking for help is incredibly difficult for me. My family and community are also navigating their own challenges right now, including my mother-in-law's devastating loss of her home in recent fires. With our family resources stretched thin, I've realized I must reach out to a wider community for support.
Please consider helping me ease the immense financial stress and burden of my cancer treatment. Your generosity would not only help me manage these overwhelming costs but also allow me to fully focus on my recovery and, most importantly, on achieving a future free from recurrence.
Thank you for considering supporting me during this critical time. Any contribution, big or small, will make a profound difference in my journey back to a full and healthy life.
