Fundraising for a legal recourse against the reopening of La Grillaia landfill (scroll for english text below)
Dopo 22 anni di abbandono e incuranza in cui non è mai stata messa in sicurezza la discarica La Grillaia in seguito alla delibera della Regione Toscana sta per riaprire a gennaio 2021. Verrà usata per il conferimento di cemento amianto, materiale molto pericoloso per la salute cittadina e per l’ambiente. La riapertura della discarica solleverebbe inoltre ulteriori rischi anche per via dei rifiuti tossici precedentemente stoccati li prima della chiusura forzata nel 1998 per gravi problemi ambientali.
Siamo un gruppo di cittadini che ha a cuore questo territorio e vogliono salvarlo da questa imminente minaccia.
Le colline della Valdera sono terra di bellezza, di musica, di arte, di paesaggi agricoli incontaminati. Aiutiamole a rimanere tali.
Abbiamo bisogno di tutti voi.
Vi preghiamo di contribuire a questa causa con ciò che vi è possibile, è veramente importante e i tempi sono strettissimi. Il conto alla rovescia è già partito, questa è l’ultima chance che abbiamo per fermare la riapertura della discarica. Tra poco più di due mesi decine di camion ogni giorno saranno in opera e porteranno l’ amianto qui. Se non li fermiamo ora, non li fermeremo mai.
Un piccolo sforzo, ma condiviso da tanti, potrebbe dare un grande risultato. In nome della comunità e del territorio, vi ringraziamo di cuore per il vostro sostegno.

Valdera is a land of beauty, of rolling hills, of music, of art and bucolic landscapes.
There is though a black spot in this little paradise- the landfill of La Grillaia, which after 22 years of abandonment the Region of Tuscany is planning to reopen beginning of 2021. It will be used for stocking of asbestos, a material particularly dangerous for human heath and for the environment.
We are a group of citizens who love this territory and want to preserve it from this imminent threat. Valdera should remain a land of beauty, not of waste stocking and landfills, its environmental integrity should be preserved.
If you as visitors or guests of this territory have felt a connection with this place and its landscape, please help us in this cause. We have very little time to act and stop the reopening of the landfill, beginning of January , dozens of camions will start bringing daily asbestos here..
If we don’t stop them now, we will never will.
