Caregiver Facing Crisis After a Month of Tragedy

I’m humbly asking for help during one of the most overwhelming and heartbreaking times of my life. As a full-time caregiver to my mother who has battled three different cancers over the past 15 months, I have done everything I can to stay strong and keep going. But after months of hardship, April became the tipping point where everything collapsed at once. My car broke down back in September and I have not been able to afford repairs or a replacement, which left me borrowing vehicles from family just to work and take my mom to treatments. Then in December, a week before Christmas, my mom’s car was totaled after she hit a deer. She was coming back from my house after letting me use her car to DoorDash so I could earn some income. Since then, I have had no reliable transportation, which has severely impacted my ability to work or care for her consistently. I have borrowed money from family and applied for every form of assistance I could find. Every option has been exhausted. I can no longer get my mom to her chemo sessions because borrowing cars is no longer an option. In April, things spiraled even more. The brakes failed on the car I was using, my mother’s immune therapy had to stop because her body could no longer handle the treatment, and palliative care is no longer an option for her. Around the same time, a close family friend passed away unexpectedly. My mother is now on high-dose steroids and under constant monitoring. On top of that, my son’s dog became pregnant unexpectedly and needed an emergency c-section. I called multiple vets but none would help without six thousand dollars upfront. Despite our best efforts and applying for CareCredit and every vet assistance program we could find, no one would help. I managed to borrow the money to get the c-section, but we tragically lost all the puppies. While all of this was happening, my son’s girlfriend, who lives with us, was hospitalized due to diabetic complications. Shortly after, the mother dog began suffering complications from the surgery. Because the vet left the puppies inside her for too long and refused to help without full payment, she became severely ill and no one would see her without upfront money. She passed away in my arms the day after Easter. That same day, my husband’s mother was hospitalized with heart problems. Since then, my son’s girlfriend has been in the hospital three more times and is still there now, and my mother-in-law has also been hospitalized again. We are now trying to afford cremation for our beloved dog, but we cannot afford the cost to have her returned to us. Then our second dog, her brother, suddenly became sick and we had to borrow even more money just to get him seen by a vet. I am completely overwhelmed. We are behind on rent, drowning in vet bills, and still without a working vehicle. Every time I think things cannot get worse, something else hits us. I never imagined I would be in this position, and I am embarrassed to ask, but I am out of options. If you can help with anything, whether it is a donation or even just sharing this, I would be so grateful. I am trying to catch up on rent, fix or replace my vehicle, pay back those who helped with emergency vet bills, and bring our dog home from the crematory. Any support means the world to us right now. Please, I kindly ask for compassion and no negativity we are truly at our breaking point. Thank you for reading and for caring.
