Saunders Medical & Family Expenses

We are a family of 5.  My wife Carrie and I have been married for 14 years and have 3 daughters.  Gabby is 12, Kaelee is 8 and Addie is 5.  We live together in a small 3 bedroom 1 bath home with a dog named Sport.  We are a Christain family and live our lives by Christian faith.  That does not mean we are perfect by any means.  About a year ago Carrie, 37 years old, came down with a brutal summer virus.  We had no idea how sick she was until about 6 weeks later when we found ourselves at IU Methodist Hospital in the Heart Unit.  She was diagnosed with Massive Heart Failure.  Her heart was only working at 21%.  Carrie does not nor ever has smoked, drink alcohol, do drugs or anything like that.  This virus just did so much damage to her heart and we did not know it was happening.  We met with several Dr.s who said the best thing was for her to quit work at her job and at home and rest to see if if could recover.  In the mean time they put her on a very aggressive diet and medication schedule.  They were also preparing her for a heart transplant.  Over the next 6 months she obeyed her diet, did not work and pretty much just slept and rested with some exercising.  She did show small signs of improvement.  They took her off the heart transplant list and we will soon be seeing if she will have to have a pacemaker and pump installed on her heart.  Our family has watched our Rock of thehouse go from a healthy active mom to a mom that wears out easy and can only rest and hang out at home.  In the mean time I as the father work my job, run the house, do all the errands, raise the girls and just run, run, run.  I have a wonderful mother in law who is over here everyday that helps out so much.  However we have over $6000 in dr bills, our mortgage is 3 months past due, my vehicle payment is 2 months past due, , we have a busted window in the kitchen, our carpet is horrible and needs replaced, all our credit cards are maxed 3 of them and we can't even afford to go out to dinner as a date for Carrie and I.  I hate it that it has come to this, but we just do not know what else to do.  She has not been approved for disability, I make to much on the hour to get approved for food stamps and collectors call all day long everyday.
We just want to get caught up and stop struggling for a little while and not have to worry about money.  The hell we have been through the past year has hurt this family..but..we remain faithful to God and that will never change.  Thank you for reading our story and donating.  Once we get back on our feet..we will pay it forward.
