I'm writing to you today with a heavy heart, but also with a plea for help. Our sweet nephew, eight-year-old Charlie (who we affectionately call Buddy), is battling stage two lymphoma. This diagnosis followed a seemingly simple ear infection that led to a hospital stay and the discovery of tumors in his abdomen and adenoids. The impact has been profound; he’s even experienced temporary facial paralysis.
Charlie's journey has already been incredibly challenging. He's bravely endured two intensive rounds of chemotherapy, administered both intravenously and through lumbar puncture. His spirit remains remarkably strong, but the toll on him, his parents, and his family is immense.
You see, Charlie's life is usually filled with the joys of childhood. He thrives on the farm where he lives, homeschooled by his dedicated mother, Tina, who also manages a boarding stable. His father, Charlie, works tirelessly out of state, yet finds every moment possible to be with his son and wife. His sixteen-year-old sister, Sophia, a skilled barrel racer, pitches in with barn chores and offers unwavering support. In their free time, Buddy loves exploring nature trails, playing in the park, building with his dad, and immersing himself in the virtual worlds of Minecraft and Fortnite – all the things an eight-year-old should be doing.
Instead, their days are consumed by hospital stays, uncomfortable treatments, and the constant uncertainty that comes with such a serious illness. Tina has been Charlie's unwavering caregiver, constantly by his side. His father balances demanding work with being present for his son and wife, traveling back and forth constantly. The emotional and physical toll is staggering.
Thankfully, Charlie will be able to come home between treatments, provided he has a sterile and supportive environment. This requires significant renovations and deep cleaning of their home, adding to the already overwhelming financial strain. The costs of treatment, travel, and home modifications are immense.
While his family is doing everything possible, we’ve started a GoFundMe campaign to ease the financial burden, allowing them to focus entirely on Charlie’s care and well-being. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a tangible difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, please share Charlie's story; spreading awareness and hope is equally valuable.
Your prayers, love, and support are deeply appreciated. Together, we can help give Charlie and his family the strength and care they need during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
