Those of us that know John Flores know what a bright light he is in this world and those that don’t, we hope you are lucky enough to one day. Not only has he dedicated his life to his beautiful family, rehabilitating rescue dogs through his nonprofit and working with countless others, educating children to better the next generation, and rehabilitating inmates, which all clearly speak to who he is in so many ways, but he is one of the kindest and funniest individuals I know. One of those people that I knew from the moment we met would be a friend for life. John's passion and dedication to impacting people and animals is inspiring, his positivity and humor is infectious, and right now, he needs us.
Last Thursday John started to not feel right but being his tough guy self he powered through. By Sunday afternoon he was dizzy and had a bad headache. They thought it was from the heat so had him drink extra fluids and after a long night on Monday morning he woke up worse. He was feeling weak, bloated from all the liquids and noticed dark urine along with lower back pain, fever, sweating, shivering and his whole body hurt. They went to the ER who basically said he was just dehydrated with a fever and sent him home with Tylenol. After another long night, on 9/6, they went to a different ER who knew something wasn’t right and ran blood tests and a urinalysis which showed blood. He also had a CT scan.
John has been hospitalized now for 4 days with no diagnosis or relief of his symptoms. They’ve met with an infectious disease specialist and are awaiting the results of further testing. What they know is: He’s been spiking continuous fevers between 100-104.4 and his pain is not alleviated by medication or the antibiotics he’s been given as of now, all of the above symptoms persist and he has an enflamed gallbladder. His liver markers are also off.
His incredible wife Bri is exhausted from worry, taking care of him, their kids, keeping their business Humble k9 running with all the dogs and taking care of her own responsibilities with the rescues she is fostering and nonprofit work they are involved with. Together they run their personal dog training business with John being the head trainer.
With still no answers and further testing being done along with the financial impact this will have on their business, I have created this Go Fund Me to help alleviate some of the financial burden and stress so they can continue to focus on getting him what he needs medically and be able to provide whatever treatment is necessary once they have a diagnosis as well as allow them to focus on his healing as needed. I will adjust the campaign amount appropriately as we know more.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers, I will post updates as soon as I have them. We love you John and Bri.
With love, Naia and your Rescue Family
