Throughout my life I have met and gotten to know many different kinds of people.  People who make you laugh, people who make you smile, and people who change your life.  On June 7, Celene Larkin-Fidler lost her valiant 2 month battle with cancer.  Celene embodied all those qualities.  She could always make you smile, she could always make you laugh.  When Kelly told my wife and I that it was time to go say good bye to her Mom, I wondered how we would handle the moment.  Needless to say, she made us smile and made us laugh,  just like she always had the habit of doing, 

During our visit, the constant thought on Celene's mind was her two children, Kelly and Kyle, 23 and 17.  I'm sure the thought of leaving them at such a young age was beyond what she could deal with.  But she did deal with it.  Her thoughts were not on herself. but on how she could make this time easier on her children.  She was selfless to the end.

My wife and I promised Celene that we would look after Kelly and Kyle during this very sad, trying time.  With that thought in mind, we are starting a fund raising drive to help Kelly and Kyle.  Kelly has been granted guardianship of her minor brother Kyle, and much like her loving Mom, she has put her own goals and aspirations aside to make sure Kyle has a stable home to finish high school.  Her job will not be an easy one, with medical bills, healthcare for her and Kyle, and everyday expenses of running a household falling to her.

I am sure Kelly and Kyle will do great things with a little help from their friends.
