Help My Family Recover From Hurricane Ida
On September 1st 2021 at around 10:30PM, Hurricane Ida did its damage to our basement. The outside of our house was so flooded, it looked like the street was a river. Because of how much water there was, our basement windows were completely unable to hold up; it had shattered the windows & rushed in so fast that it filled our basement from floor to ceiling in minutes.
All we could've done was to wait out the storm & the flooding. The next morning, most of the water in the basement had drained, so we were able to go downstairs & assess the damage. There is a lot of mud and other things from outside in the basement that the water brought in. Everything down there was destroyed.
The ceiling collapsed, and the walls/floor were severely damaged by the flooding and are now beginning to mold. Doors were broken due to the intense pressure, as well as the cabinets, & everything in our storage room. Our boiler no longer works, leaving our home with no access to hot water. The wiring was rendered useless, so all electrical components in the basement are beyond repair. Our basement is destroyed to the point where it needs to be completely gutted & redone. Unfortunately our home insurance won't cover the damages due to the fact that our area isn't considered a flood zone.
We've also lost a lot of costly items that were in our garage. (lawn mower, snow blower, etc.) My parents' car & the car I share with my brother were both submerged underwater, & both cars are left irreparable.
We are hoping to raise enough money to at least help us with the funds. If you are unable to donate, please share this link with friends & family to spread the word; any form of contribution is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
