For 2 special people.

Hi All,

About a year ago I learnt of 2 people that were starting their very different journey's of cancer diagnosis and treatment. I was lucky to have met each of them through work and I knew a little about them, but what I learnt over time was just how much they love their families and how much courage and grace they each showed during their fight against cancer.

I made a commitment to both of them that I would grow my hair out until it was at least long enough to donate, or for as long as their treatment went on.

I sent them (mostly ridiculous) photo updates, checked in and tried to share a dad joke or 2 to break up their days. Each time they responded with honesty about how good or tough their day was, a little embarrassment for me and my dad jokes, and always, always with positivity and love of their families.

Sadly, one of those incredibly brave people passed away after a very short and tough battle. The other special person endured through a tough year of multiple treatments and surgeries and is on the road to recovery.

So here we are after a little over a year and it's time to chop off the mop on Wednesday 20th November and send it to https://sustainablesalons.org/for-salons/ponytails. They send ponytails directly to wigmakers and to charitable organisations such as Variety and the Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation (AAAF) to be made into charitable wigs.

I'd also like to raise some funds with all donations to go to the Cancer Council https://www.cancer.org.au/ and the National Breast Cancer Foundation https://nbcf.org.au/ . Appreciating the tough financial time many people are in, I'm asking if you could skip your next take away tea/coffee/beer after work and spend it on a $2 - $5 donation, and share this post with anyone who may know them.
