My Family: Foreclosure to Homeless
This beautiful family is my mom, my sister, and my brother. In this picture, there are smiles and joy at a cousin's wedding. Today, they face great uncertainty. 12 years ago my family lost our home to an explosion caused by a gas leak and fire. My dad was fatally injured in this accident. He was our breadwinner and rock. My family has never been the same since.
To replace our home, we built a house, and over the last 10 years that house has become a home. My mom has always used this home to shelter others, comfort those in need, and encourage others with the love of Christ. Unfortunately, over the past several years, she has faced many difficult health problems preventing her from working a regular job and steadily paying off the house.
She has been diagnosed with Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Neuropathy, Degenerative Disk Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis, to name a few in just the last handful of years. She suffers through pain every day and because of this pain, she is not able to work. Yet, even through her pain she has always had a smile and an ecouraging word for everyone else.
She has fought so hard as a single mother of 5 kids to give each of us the very best life possible. The other 3 kids not seen in the picture, myself being one of them, are fighting for her and doing everything we can to help her find a way through this wilderness. Unfortunately, we are each struggling providing for ourselves and our families, that we have very little left to give.
My sister is 22, she has a variety of mental and emotional illnesses that prevent her from holding down a steady job. She is also waiting upon a disability case to be settled with the State of Michigan. Michigan is extremely slow in approving disability cases and awarding those in need money.
This Friday at midnight, my mom loses our family home to foreclosure and becomes homeless. She has fought tooth and nail with every organization that is supposed to help people in this crisis time and received no security, no help, no assurance. Yet, she is trusting God to come through for her. She is trusting in His faithfulness, that He will provide, when the world seems utterly grim. Her hope is in the Lord. Hope is an expectation.
I am calling out to every friend, colleague, and family member for help as her daughter and her friend. This money would help her with rent and other expenses during this uncertain time. She has been placed on a waiting list that will last 3-4 months until she can get help. This money would help cover living expenses for her, my sister and my brother. We need the funds as soon as possible. I refuse to let my family go to a shelter after all we have been through. My family deserves this because they do so much kindness for others.
I was raised with the belief that as Christians we are to partner with God as the Body of Christ and care for the orphans and the widows. We are to provide love, encouragement, and assistance to those who are downtrodden, lost, and hopeless. We would be so thankful for any help you could give at this time. $10 can make a difference, but if you can give more, please do! Please help my mom, Sherrie, my sister, Renee, and my brother, Brett in the scariest time of their lives!
