Help Leticia Post-Amputation Surgery
Donation protected
Hello, I am Leticia Avila’s son Josue. I am making this GoFundMe to help my mom after she lost her hands and legs to a severe kidney infection.
On January 12th, my mother was rushed to the emergency room. She had been dealing with a kidney stone and had fainted from the pain. We were told that she had a severe and vicious kidney infection. This infection got into her bloodstream and quickly became life threatening, she went into septic shock, and they were having a hard time keeping her blood pressure up. The doctor told us that he had never seen a kidney infection this bad and that if my mom would have fallen asleep that night, she would have died. She was kept in the ICU for several days and we were told that she had a 50% chance of living. Understanding the severity and likelihood of her survival, my brother and I said our final goodbyes. No one could have seen this coming. These past few weeks have been a nightmare.
After much prayer from family and friends, my mother miraculously pulled through! We are extremely grateful for the prayers given and so happy that she will live, unfortunately the infection took my mother’s hands and her legs. Last Wednesday they amputated her legs, and yesterday they amputated her hands. Within a couple weeks, her life was changed forever.
My mother is a very special person. She is a good person, a caring person, a loving person, and a religious person. She is the strongest and most beautiful woman I know. She is doing her best to pilot this process with the most positive outlook she can and relying on God for hope. But understandably so, this is a difficult situation for anyone to face. This was unforeseen and cannot be described as anything else other than a tragedy. Thinking about her quality of life moving forward is extremely hard on our family. She deserves all the happiness in the world, and I want to do everything I can to help her. I don’t want her to miss out on life, that is why I need your help. As we navigate through this terrible road of physical and emotional recovery, we need help to pay for expenses. I know there may be more, but I have made a list of bills my mom has and things we will need to help her during this transition to a life without her arms and legs.
