James (Jimmy) Johnson is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Mildred N. Johnson’s Memorial Fund
My beloved mother Mildred N. Johnson recently passed away at the age of 88 during her sleep. Our entire family friends loved her so much and we’re still having a hard time believing she’s gone. We have so many wonderful memories of her loving and caring personality to everyone and want to honor her life. Mom’s life was one of overcoming challenges and keeping our family together.
Mom was born in Canel Zone, Panama. Her widowed mother Ethal, father Joseph, and brothers and sisters. The only living sibling is Uncle George. Mom was a family person with a big loving heart. Mildred loved to cook and that's how our village family grew.
In Alaska, we survived a huge earthquake, and Willis (her husband) rushed the four of us to safety to live with relatives in New York. Another fond memory in the early ’60s was the entire family riding in his ‘56 Chevy from New York to his new station in New Mexico. Nothing mattered more to her than the family and we enjoyed every moment we spent together.
We moved to Sacramento, CA to begin civilian life (Willis was in the Airforce). My youngest sibling Nicole was born and welcomed into the family shortly after moving to Sacramento. Eventually, Dad and Mom were blessed with 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Dad and Mom always opened our home, taking in family and friends if they needed a place to stay or food to eat. Mom had such a big heart and continued to support and sacrifice for her growing family well into her senior years. We’re setting up this fund to honor Mom’s legacy.
I will announce the final details for Mom’s memorial service after the COVID-19 Pandemic is over. I want to personally thank you for your generosity to help our family during this sad and difficult time. May you and your family be blessed fourfold for your gift of love.
Sincerely,
Jimmy and the entire Johnson Family
