There's a new therapy available to treat the pain and depression I've suffered for years without relief. Through a series of IV treatments, Ketamine Transfusion Therapy rewires a person's synapses. It's a promising option for people with the highest levels of pain and depression, but the cost makes it out of reach for me without community support.

My symptoms have been worsening, and they've kept me from being out in the city, serving the community through my spiritual advisory work. My hope it that this therapy will help me heal so I can get back to doing more of that work, reading tarot and doing astrology charts. My aim is to serve.

A little background: I started in the hospital system at age 11, with jaw and spinal surgeries at 15 and 16. It took ten years of being misdiagnosed and experimented on to reach the diagnosis of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome at age 21.

Ehlers-Danlos is a connective tissue condition like Marfan Syndrome. It affects your collagen, the protein that holds your body together. Collagen is your glue. It is in every part of you. From your skin to your eyes to your muscles and ligament and organs. With the collagen defect, you begin to break down. My brother did not have an official diagnosis, but he passed away from what is a common cause of death for people with Ehlers-Danlos -- an aortic aneurysm. It is a degenerative condition, and each year I get a little worse.

After nearly 30 years in the hospital system, I'm not expecting a miracle. This therapy is the last line for many. It may not work, but I'm hopeful. It's uncomfortable to ask for donations, but without your help, I won't be able to give it a try.

These are the costs:
Initial four sessions: $500 each
Follow-up four sessions: $500 each

There may be follow-up treatment, depending on how my body reacts. The doctors are being cautious due to the nature of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
