Witnessing a Miracle: Baby Charlotte’s Fight for Life

Born at just a little over 2 pounds and arriving far too early at 26 weeks, Baby Charlotte has already fought life and death battles that brought her family to their knees. Collapsed lungs, a cranial bleed, unstable blood gases, and moments when the medical team feared she might not make it through the night. Yet God has continued to show His mercy, and she keeps fighting with a strength far beyond her tiny size.

Friends, family, and caring souls even those who have never met this family have asked how they can help support her parents during this long and emotional NICU journey.

Please pray for Baby Charlotte. Her story is already a testimony of God’s love and power.

Charlotte’s Story

On November 4th, Baby Charlotte entered the world unexpectedly at 26 weeks and 4 days, weighing just barely over 2 pounds. Alexis had to undergo an emergency C section with no warning, and Charlotte was immediately taken to the NICU where she continues to fight every single day.

She has faced severe breathing challenges, collapsed lungs, a cranial bleed, frightening oxygen drops, and long nights when the family prayed just to make it through until morning. Through God’s grace and mercy, she has overcome obstacles that even her medical team cannot fully explain.

Their High Risk Pregnancy Journey

At 14 weeks pregnant, Alexis experienced an unexpected early rupture. Doctors immediately took her off work from her job as a firefighter and EMT to protect both her and the baby. At 22 weeks, she was admitted to the hospital’s high risk antepartum unit, where she remained until the day Charlotte was born.

These months were physically and emotionally exhausting, and the couple did everything they could to focus on keeping their baby safe.

A Young Family Doing Their Best

Chuck had worked full time up until entering the police academy, and he had been in his new position only a few weeks when the emergency C section happened. Both he and Alexis are extremely private, hardworking people who never want to burden anyone.

With Alexis unable to work for months, and with many friends, family members, and compassionate strangers asking how they can help, this GoFundMe was created as a gentle way for those who care about them to offer support during this long NICU journey.

The Ronald McDonald House has been a tremendous blessing, giving them a place to stay close to the hospital. Still, everyday needs continue their basic needs and the regular responsibilities at home that do not pause even during this long hospital journey while they remain fully devoted to their daughter’s care.

Even with insurance, the co pays and deductibles from the emergency C section alone have already reached into the thousands, and that is only the beginning of what will be a long NICU journey.

Because of Chuck’s work in law enforcement, their last name is not being used for privacy and safety, and the family sincerely appreciates everyone who understands this.

Why This GoFundMe Was Created

This GoFundMe exists simply to give people a way to support Alexis and Chuck while they remain faithfully at Charlotte’s side. Nothing about this is a request for handouts. It is the result of so many who love them asking how they can help lift the load during the hardest season of their lives.

A Family Grateful for Every Prayer

Alexis and Chuck are overwhelmed with gratitude for the love surrounding their baby girl. They know God is with Charlotte, holding her, strengthening her, and guiding her healing in every way she needs.

A Prayer for Baby Charlotte

For I will restore health to you, and I will heal your wounds, declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 30:17

We ask everyone reading this to please continue praying for Baby Charlotte for her lungs, her brain, her strength, and her continued healing. Your prayers mean more than words can ever express. This family feels every single one.

This GoFundMe is being written and organized by Alexis’s sister Megan with both parents’ full permission, simply to help support them during this overwhelming and emotional season.

With gratitude and faith,
The Family of Baby Charlotte
