'With Love, AL' - Short Film

What is the Project?
The project is the independent creation of a short film that the cinematographer, Jason, wrote over a year ago. With the help of his good friend, and the director, Ethan, we have gathered a group of our closest friends and passionate filmmakers to create what Jason considers to be his 'Thesis' project.
Who are we?
We are a team of filmmakers alike, most in the school of Media Arts in Studies here at Ohio University, and some in various other departments. We have a passion for telling stories of any shape and size.
The Story
The story is of a Gentleman (AL) who receives a letter telling him that his old best friend's (Ted) wife passed away. AL reluctantly pays him a visit, and heads over in time for the funeral. But, AL and Ted's relationship is not how it used to be, and AL soon finds himself wondering if he should've even gone. It focuses on perception and how things, and people, can be deceiving, no matter how long you've known them. It also explores the idea of re-establishing old relationships and how important some relationships can be.
Join Our Production Effort!
We really, REALLY need your help. Without your help, this film will not be possible. Unfortunately, things cost money, and even more unfortunately, quite a bit of it. Things like actors, locations, and equipment, may be our biggest priorities, but there are a ton of other things that money will provide for our production.
Where Will the Money Go?
Well, first the money will go to our three biggest priorities: actors, locations, and equipment. Actors are single-handedly, the most valuable part of this production. This film relies on believable events and moments, and without strong, but subtle acting, these moments won't hit home with an audience. In order to find good actors, we need (and want) to pay them well. Locations are also a huge part to our vision. The whole crew attends Ohio University, but we don't want to make it look like it was filmed on campus, and so renting out believable (and unique) spaces is pivotal to our stories authenticity. The script is the bones of this short film, and the equipment is the muscle. Equipment rentals can be expensive, but we have a very particular look and vision for this film which serves the story and among everything else, serves its purpose. Equipment will help us be efficient and timely, and of course, it gives the crew members opportunities to explore more complex filmmaking concepts and techniques. Lastly, the money remaining will go to the things that will really tie this film together, such as props, costumes, travel expenses (for the actors), and of course, food.
Timeline?
We are already, and have been, in pre-production. This is where all of the visualization and concept-creating happens. We are preparing to shoot at the end of March. Shooting will probably span over two weeks. More precise dates will be scheduled and posted here once we align dates and times
with our chosen actors. After shooting happens, we dive into post-production (the final stage)! Post Production should take no more than a month and a half! So, you can expect our film, with minimal complications, to premiere around the end April - mid May! But you don't have too keep track of all this, because we will continue to post updates as our production moves forward RIGHT HERE!
What Your Support Means
With the support we are given from you, we will be able to produce an ambitious film that Jason has been dreaming of making and developing over the past year. This is his most valuable project to date, and last one before he graduates and heads off into the real world. Your support would mean so much to him and everyone on this crew. As stated before, the crew is made up ENTIRELY of students who want to do this for a living, and so in supporting us, you are support or endeavors into this creative field.
All this said, your support also means INCENTIVES for you!
Any donation: An early viewing of the film (before scheduled premiere date)
$15: 'Special Thanks to {name}!' in the credits
$50: 'Associate Producer: {name}' in the credits
