Withdrawal - A Short Film

Introduction
Hello! My name is Jacob Harding and I’m a film student that needs your help funding my Senior Thesis Film, “Withdrawal”.
What Is “Withdrawal”?
“Withdrawal” is a dramatic short film that follows Kyle Richardson, a young man whose in a loving relationship, on the verge of getting his first book published, and has his whole life ahead of him. There’s only one problem: Kyle’s an addict and nobody knows. Kyle’s been able to hide his dark secret from his family, employers, friends, even his girlfriend, but due to an deadly car accident Kyle’s secret is revealed to the world. After this accident, Kyle must ask himself: can he truly live without his addiction?
“Withdrawal” is truly a story about overcoming, and being more than you think you’re supposed to be. This goes beyond just those with addictions, but to those suffering with any kind of feeling of being less than they think they should be. Unlike many films that cover addiction, this film mainly covers the drug recovery rather than the addiction or the drug itself, and the temptation and misery that can come from those in recovery. When it comes to Kyle, I’ve done my job to try and bring as much realism to his story and his struggles, so much so that I hope to help others than are going through the same situation, or that have family members that are.
Why I Need Your Help?
As is the case with many campaigns like this, the main reason I need your help is because I’m a poor college student and I can’t afford to pay for a majority of my films needs such as feeding my cast and crew, buying the right kind of props, securing locations, paying my cast members, post production needs (composing, coloring, etc.), and film festival entree fees . Luckily, I do have access to state of the art film equipment thanks to my University, such as RED Helium 8K’s and ARRI Lighting Kits, which saves me thousands of dollars. With your donations I will be able to produce my best film yet and tell a story that needs to be told.

Homefront Community Development
One last thing, I will be donating 5% of all the money raised to “Homefront Community Development”, a non-profit charity started by my uncle, Spencer Stith, based in my home town of Kansas City, Missouri. "Homefront" helps those facing homelessness by providing safe, affordable, and supportive housing arrangements, but they also help those with a history of substance abuse find support through their recovery.
Through Homefront, over 30 families have received help in the past four years, and keep planning to do so throughout of the coming years. I chose Homefront because it’s a non-profit that’s still relatively new to this world and can truly make a difference in the lives of those struggling with substance abuse. Plus having it in my hometown means that I can literally watch the money that is donated through this film be put to good use in my own backyard.
Besides that 5%, I will also donate 15% of any of the film’s earnings it may receive from festival winnings! Plus if I actually go under budget, I’ll donate everything else I raise to “Homefront”. For more information checkout their website: http://www.homefrontnkc.org
