The Great Running Challenge 2026 at Witham St Hughs Academy

We are excited to be holding The Great Running Challenge 2026 at Witham St Hughs Academy on Monday 12th October 2026!

Our Great Running Challenge is all about getting active, having fun, supporting one another and celebrating our children’s enthusiasm for being active.

Every pupil in the school will take part during the school day, with children completing a distance appropriate to their year group:

EYFS (Reception): 300 metres

KS1 (Years 1 & 2): ½ mile

KS2 (Years 3, 4, 5 & 6): 1 mile

The children will be encouraged to do their best, but most importantly, we want them to have fun, get active and enjoy taking part.

How Can You Help?

We are kindly asking families and friends to support our children by making a donation to their designated year-group GoFundMe page.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference.

Your support will help us continue to develop sport and provide exciting opportunities for all our pupils.

Children will have the opportunity to come to school wearing their sports clothing or, if they wish, dress as their favourite sporting hero. They could come dressed as a footballer, athlete, gymnast, cricketer, rugby player or any other sporting inspiration.

There will also be prizes to add to the excitement, including:

A prize for the year group that raises the most sponsorship

Individual prizes for some of the best-dressed sporting heroes

The challenge will give our children the opportunity to work together, support one another and help their year group reach its fundraising goal.

What Will Your Donation Support?

All money raised will support our pupils and help develop sport and wider opportunities at Witham St Hughs Academy.

Funds will help provide:

• Sports and play equipment

• School sports kits

• Travel to sporting events

• League and competition entry fees

• Opportunities to try new sports

• Additional teaching and learning resources

Your donation will help our children stay active, try new activities, represent their school and develop a lifelong love of sport, while supporting their wider learning and development.
