so far we have been able to cover almost half of genes vet fees. We are still hoping people will show generosity and help us with covering the remaining amount. We also have the cost of his cremation to cover also. Any small amount will help us beyond what you know.

today i had to say goodbye to my best friend. Only 5 years old Gene had a horrific accident in the paddock whilst he was at training, we received a call from the trainer at 8:45am saying it’s gene and he had pulled his hoof clean off. Mum told me and i bursted into tears, we hopped in the car and drove 2 hours, we got a call from the vet and he pretty much told us there was nothing he could do, if we were to keep him alive he would be in pain and would have to stay in a stable for 12 months which is not an ideal life for a young horse. I wouldn’t be able to ride him either and he would be in pain for the rest of his life. The heart breaking decision was made already but i had to make the final call, we decided it was best to put Gene down. My heart is in a million pieces, Gene was and is my everything even though he doesn’t rome this earth any longer. I will most likely quit riding after 13 years, i don’t want to walk this journey without him. Gene was my absolute heart horse, i will never find another horse like him him, Gene was the air i breathed and truely what i lived for. I will forever miss my main man. Rest in paradise my sweetest man ️ Cally Smith
the family are also dealing with the sudden loss of Sam’s mum just before Christmas as well as my own diagnosis less than 2 weeks ago from cancer. We have a very heavy road ahead of us and anything you can spare will make a difference for us.
