Hugs for (Trevaun) Hughes

Howdy All! My name is Laurie Chism. I have been blessed to know the Hughes Family since 2016 when Miriam and I started working together at GHS. Miriam is my soul sister, and her family is a blessing to me and many others! Their son, Trevaun Hughes, is a 2020 graduate of Granbury High School. He is currently a student at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, where he lives. On the night of December 7, 2022, his mom received notice that every parent dreads. Trevaun was involved in an accident on 377 between Granbury and Stephenville. Trevaun is currently being treated in a Fort Worth hospital, where he is fighting like a champ! Thursday morning, he had surgery to remove blood from his brain and his medical team performed a craniotomy. Part of his skull will be kept off as they expect more swelling. He is currently sedated and has tubes to help with his breathing. His medical team is dealing with one trauma at a time. Trevaun and his family have a long journey ahead of them. This includes Trevaun's hospital stay for at least a few more weeks and therapy after. In addition to the physical struggles Trevaun will be facing, he will also be facing (uninsured) medical bills and loss of his income as he will be unable to work for an extended period. It is unknown when Trevaun will be able to return to his normal day-to-day, including school and work.
