When I was younger, my mom showed me a video on how kids across the world got to school.

She wanted me to understand how grateful I should be for just going to school.

Where I live, people hate school. They tell me, “I wish school wasn’t a thing,” and “I hat

e sitting in a classroom doing work for half of the day.”

Honestly, I agreed with them.

Today, I retraced that video my mom showed me. It’s called “ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL” by TIFF. As I watched, the nostalgia came across my mind as tears fell across my face.

Kids aged from 5-12 across the world would walk for hours, hike in dangerous areas, and ride horses to get to their schools, as far as 22+ kilometers away.

This emotional video brought extreme sadness and compassion for these kids. Around 272 to 273 million students do not have access to local education. Why can’t these kids who actually want to attend school not have local access?

I’ve started a nonprofit to help solve this solution and make an impact to help these kids across the world.

InnovatED is a student-led nonprofit and its mission is to address areas without access to any education, and we strive to solve this problem by sending STEM kits, physical/online resources, and mentored pathways for kids and their futures. With sufficient funds, global volunteers, partnered nonprofits and organizations, we can make this happen. Donate to InnovatED!
