Hello! My name is Mikayla I am writing this on behalf of my husband Riley Moreau and our little family.

Recently our lives have been turned upside down, so I thank you for the novel you're about to dive into.

Riley is a twenty seven year old Father to a full of energy two year old little girl named Elora and a ten month old goofy little guy named Bentlee. Up until discovering he was ill, he worked tirelessly as a Welder for B& G Industrial Services. Since being diagnosed and scheduled for surgery Riley has been unable to work following our family doctors strict orders. He also had his license taken for his own safety as well as others.

Although Riley showed no previous signs of any cardiac illnesses, in September 2023 we recieved devastating news that instilled daily fear into our lives. Riley was sent for an Echocardiogram after a physical assessment for shoulder pain revieled what was believed to be a murmur of his heart at the time. At this point in time, Riley was also having periods where he would blackout and loose consciousness, suffer from tunnel vision and headaches, as well as chest pains. During his Echocardiogram is was found that his heart had worrisome irregularities in it's beats. After numerous appointments, wearing a heart monitor, trying different medications and going for different scans and appointments with other specialists, it was deemed that Riley's heart has an AV Block with transposition of the great artery, mild subaortic right ventricular dilation of mild systolic dysfunction and will require a permanent pacemaker to continue to live a happy, healthy life with his kids.

Riley's pacemaker surgery is set in Toronto for October 25th..

Due to Riley's inability to work or drive, I was working two jobs day and night to prepare for Riley's surgery and to try and keep our family going. However, despite knowing the hardships my family was facing, my main employer and source of income, Goldbelt decided to cruelly terminate my position following my request for time off to support my spouse during his surgery, leaving us scrambling to collect fund to make this trip possible and keep our family going.

Despite my attempts to find more work, and still working my part time job at night, we are finding it nearly impossible to keep positive spirits. The funds will be put towards transposition costs, medications, accommodations and to relieve financial stress until Riley is fully recovered. We are still unsure if Riley will ever be able to return to his career as a Welder and we have no timeframe given as to when he will be able resume a normal life.

We are tired. We are scared. But we are not giving up! We thank you for taking the time to read this and appreciate any and all help this may bring fourth!
