With Love, We Help Marlon Heal

On May 9th, 2025, my beautiful boyfriend Marlon was the victim of a brutal and horrific hate crime. While out at a local bar with friends, he was viciously assaulted by a large group of individuals who targeted him for who he is and what he looks like. This was a despicable act of violence leaving him with multiple broken bones in his face, burns from cigarettes extinguished on his skin, and a dislocated shoulder that had to be set immediately in the emergency room. His body is covered in painful bruises and severely swollen contusions. We are so lucky to have him alive and with us today. These attackers meant to dehumanize and destroy him. His phone was smashed, his clothes and jewelry were stolen, and he was left physically battered, emotionally traumatized, and stripped of his sense of safety and dignity.

Marlon is the kindest, bravest, strongest, most loving, and most creative man I know. He is always ready with a laugh or a helping hand for anyone. No one should ever have to endure what he has gone through and my heart is so broken at the lack of humanity. He has spend hours in emergency care, but is now facing extensive medical bills, follow up appointments to examine brain and spinal cord damage, physical therapy, trauma counseling, lost wages from work, and basic living expenses while he heals. Marlon is fiercely loved by those who know him, but it is a long road to recovery. Your support, however you see fit, means the world to us. Thank you.

El 9 de mayo de 2025, mi hermoso novio Marlon fue víctima de un brutal y horrendo crimen de odio. Mientras estaba en un bar con amigos, fue brutalmente agredido por un grupo numeroso de personas que lo atacaron por su identidad y apariencia. Este acto de violencia atroz le dejó múltiples huesos rotos en la cara, quemaduras de cigarrillos apagados en la piel y un hombro dislocado que tuvo que ser operado de inmediato en urgencias. Su cuerpo está cubierto de dolorosos moretones y contusiones severas. Tenemos mucha suerte de tenerlo vivo y con nosotros hoy. Estos atacantes querían deshumanizarlo y destruirlo. Le destrozaron el teléfono, le robaron la ropa y las joyas, y lo dejaron físicamente maltratado, emocionalmente traumatizado y despojado de su sentido de seguridad y dignidad.

Marlon es el hombre más amable, valiente, fuerte, cariñoso y creativo que conozco. Siempre está dispuesto a reír o a ayudar a cualquiera. Nadie debería tener que pasar por lo que él ha pasado y me duele profundamente su falta de humanidad. Ha pasado horas en urgencias, pero ahora enfrenta facturas médicas elevadas, citas de seguimiento para examinar el daño cerebral y medular, fisioterapia, terapia para traumatismos, pérdida de ingresos laborales y gastos básicos mientras se recupera. Quienes conocen a Marlon lo adoran profundamente, pero su recuperación es un largo camino. Su apoyo, como mejor le parezca, significa muchísimo para nosotros. Gracias.
