With Love From AIDAN

‘When a robotic AI brother joins his sister at her birthday for the first time, He decides to recount the past and all the lessons she taught him and how he finally came to fulfil his programming, but concerns arise as he unveils his birthday present to her.’

My name is Reuben Harvey, and this is my IADT grad film “With Love, From Aidan”. I

wanted this year to write and direct a dark satire about something that's very relevant in our society today, perhaps not to this extent just yet, but in a world where AI is scaring developers of creative content, designers and musicians alike, a story like this is actually not as far-fetched as we might hope.

Within the world comes innocence, misunderstanding and newfound existentialism as we hear the story of an experimental AI “Aidan” come to life with the programming to assist and learn to love but also with the ability to explore experiential understanding throughout family life.

But when an AI has the freedom to decide whether or not to follow this “experiential understanding” based programming, ideas that contradict his newly learned mannerisms and feelings swirl through his computer mind tempting him to question his makers, who is really to blame?

This film is extremely important to all of our Heads of Departments as this is our major graduate production for the IADT National Film School and determines all of our HODs for Directing, Producing, Cinematography, Sound and Editing final grades for our college course, all crew members are working for free and our budget which is entirely self-funded is entirely invested towards production including transport, hiring talent, props, make-up, costume design, location and any additional equipment hiring.

The aim of our GoFundMe is to raise funds for the film shoot between the 30th of January and the 5th of February. Any and all donations from anyone whether big or small would contribute greatly to helping our film ‘With Love, From Aidan’ be the best film it can be.
