With love for Lisa Boutte, may she rest in peace.

 

Hello! We are Carole and Angela Porter. We are fundraising for our beloved childhood friend, Lisa Boutte, who passed away after a long-suffering illness Tuesday May 16, 2022. We just found out and were able to make it to her bedside for some moments with her before she passed. She could not speak or move, but as we stood there, we asked her to blink if she could hear and understand us; she blinked yes, and a tear rolled down her cheek as we sang and played her a song we danced to in grade school.

 

I remember growing up in West Berkeley–walking to school at St. Joseph's, hanging out on our front porch in summer, poppin wheelies in the street, waiting for the ice cream truck, going to the library, and sometimes studying, sometimes not. Lisa was the kindness and shyness that would never loudly enter a space but would come stand gently beside you if you were hurting or in trouble, and without any words, you knew she was right there and hurting with you, helping to carry the burden of your pain. She loved to laugh, and when she smiled, she lit up the room, bashfully covering her mouth with her hand. Never one to place her burden on others, we did not know she was ill until just before she passed. She was a truly uncommon angel on this earth and dearly loved. We will miss her.

 

Our fundraising is to support Lisa's daughters Brianna and Tiffany to host the kind of memorial homegoing this beautiful woman deserves; honor her in her passing as we wish we could have honored her in her life.

 

Brianna has been caring for her mother full time these past few years, and Lisa's mother before her who passed in 2020, and Lisa's brother Michael, (also beloved) , who passed in 2018. We would like to throw Lisa a beautiful homegoing party, cover any outstanding medical bills, and help with some of the deferred maintenance on Lisa's home, which is also Brianna's home. We would like to help uplift this space in loving memory of our friend.

Lisa's memorial service will be held Monday  June 20th at 1:30 pm at St. Joseph the Worker Church 1640 Addison St. Berkeley, 94703  with repast served on the church patio after the service.
