Hey, I'm Javier...
Unfortunately, I've been plagued with a lot of phantom or undiagnosed health issues the last 6 months - and we finally found out why.
After bouts of dizziness & feinting (including in a grocery store where an ambulance had to be called because I completely blacked out - on Saturday 26th of July I went to my Dr (dentist).
The reason for the emergency appointment was because of a sudden, excruciating pain in my upper jaw... which I thought was a tooth issue. This is also a tooth that i've had pain / infections in before 6 months ago... or so I thought.
Upon explaining my symptoms to my dentist he suggested a CT scan, because he thought maybe i'd fractured my tooth and if so - we'd need to do an implant and he wanted to see how my bone density was (if I was a suitable candidate).
Unfortunately, to our horror... the CT came back with alarming results. It was obvious not only to him but to me that there was something a lot more insidious going on.
Where my jawbone should be, was a large tumour which has apparently been growing for 6months-1year and is pressing on my sinuses; hence the dizziness & blackouts / feinting.
He advised that he's sending me urgently to the hospital to find out it it's cancer... (which at this point we don't know.)
If it ISN'T cancer however, the prognosis is still quite damning.
I will need to have the tumour removed, at least one tooth removed (near the very front of my mouth) & a bone graft to fill in and heal the missing bone in my jaw, as my face could otherwise collapse in. As well as that, the new teeth will cost thousands. The tumour spreads over 3 teeth and bridges or implants will need to be done.
For those who aren't aware of the healthcare in the UK - Dental is not free, and most people aren't lucky enough to have NHS dentists (it's basically a lot cheaper).
I personally have been on a long waiting list for a NHS dentist unsuccessfully and therefor will have to pay for all of these costs out of pocket.
On top of the extreme medical expense I'm now faced with, operations, bone grafts & the fear of cancer... I'm at risk of redundancy from my job. Meaning it's an even more terrifying time for me with these high costs.
An estimate of the costs are below. It's not something I ask for easily but unfortunately I do not know where to turn or how I will pay for these medical costs. Any help, even $1 will make an immense difference and is appreciated more than you may know.
