With Heavy Hearts – In Loving Memory of Made

We are devastated to share the heartbreaking news that our dear family friend, Made, was tragically struck by a motorbike while on her way to get flowers for ceremony in Bali and lost her life. She leaves behind her loving husband, Gede, and their three young sons.

Made was more than a friend—she was family. For over 20 years, we’ve shared a deep bond with her, her family, and my own children. She was one of the gentlest, kindest souls you could ever meet. We shared so many beautiful memories; she was like a sister to me and a Balinese aunty to my kids.

Despite facing daily hardships, Made never complained. She worked tirelessly to provide for her children, giving everything she had to offer them a better life. Her family has always lived humbly—often with up to four people sharing one room. They’ve gone without many of the basic comforts we often take for granted: no hot water, no fridge, and limited food security. Yet their home was always filled with love, warmth, and generosity.

Over the years, we’ve supported them with school fees, clothing, and necessities. But this tragedy is too great for us to carry alone. We are reaching out to our friends, family, and community to ask for help in lightening the burden for Gede and the children as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

All funds raised will go directly to Made’s family, to cover immediate needs such as food, household essentials, and school expenses for the children—helping give them the space to grieve without the added pressure of survival. Even $10 will go a long way
