We never expected to be in this position, but here we are. We have a good house, new-ish cars. We had good jobs - until this year. We had a stable future - until this year.

I can't speak publicly to why I'm asking this community for help, but I am happy to talk to you in DMs, privately, and in person about it. It's been an enormous gift already that our deeply private nature has been respected during such a difficult time for us.

If you're one of the 20 people I tell every goddamn thought in my head, you may smile at the term "deeply private". But it's true - if you're seeing this, you're probably waxed my butthole. Or at least seen it online. And I love that about my friends. There's a concept of identity to be found inside each of us that is so intimate, so vulnerable - that it should be protected and loved as a fragile thing.

Well, this fragile thing has realized that I need help. My family escaped to where we are with a purpose, and we found refuge. We found friends. Now, we're being laid off into the scariest job market I've ever seen, and all of a sudden, I have thousands of dollars in unaccounted medical bills.

I have a good job - for now. I have a good house - for now. I had a good savings account - but now I look and think, oh my god, what if one of our cars goes out?

I've heard that most Americans are just one medical disaster away from debt. I know that if you're reading this, you've seen my secret third butthole and I don't have to explain to you the deep, shareable, heady dignity that we dream of in our morning conversations. Thank you for allowing me to preserve some of that here, in asking for help, and in keeping you so long.
