You may have seen that our insurance company has recenlty denied Dads treatment, he has been without his oral chemo medication, injection and infusion for a week now. Our insurance company is refusing to prior authorize our Oncologist at Dana Farber and we need to go back to our old oncology who referred us there. While we re-establish treatment I was able to pay out of pocket for his oral chemotherapy medications.

My sister and I are looking at other out of pocket insurances that Dana Farber accepts but unfortunately as we know, insurance isn't cheap and even with prior authorizations it is challenging. With some of the money you all have GENEROUSLY donated I have been able to cover his medications and it will help cover his rent for October.

We are still fighting, we, he is tired - everything, all of this is frustrating but we are still fighting and working towards getting back on track.

For those of you that may know, my father, has stage 4 neuro-endocrine cancer (NETS). NETS can be found throughout the body and develop from our neuroendocrine cells combined with nerve and hormone producing cells throughout. NETs is typically a slow growing cancer but can be fast growing and has unfortunately been fast growing.

In 2018 Dad had 2/3 of his pancreas removed due to the NETS surrounding it, he was in remission up until 2024. Currently he has tumors throughout his body, his bones, and surrounding his liver. Dad has started chemotherapy since the tumors are too big to remove and is no longer able to work.

On top of all of this this he still as his heart conditions, a defibrillator, and had a stroke at the beginning of this year where he had no idea who my sister and I were nor anything else. It was one of the scariest three days of all our lives.

We, my sister Sarah, my father Gordon and I are asking for any help financially from you. If you know my Dad, this is huge for us as we are the ones who typically take care of everyone else. Gordon is the person who always has helped everyone else. He is the one who would take the shirt off his back for you or give you a hand no matter what he is going through. He has been there for everyone and now we need you to be there for us.

Sarah and I have been financially taking care of my Dad as we wait for state assistance, which isn’t much and are struggling. We are continuing to appeal and work with the state but we need help. Chemotherapy is expensive, bills are due, and rent is getting challenging to accomplish on our own with our own families.

Gordon is not only our best friend but he also a Grandfather. He has good and bad days, chemotherapy sucks, the IV’s, shots and blood draws suck, but through it all he still preservers.

Sarah, Dad and I appreciate any help that we can get. This is a hard pill to swallow for all of us, the diagnosis, and the financial side of it and I appreciate everyone who has called, listened to us cry and have checked in on us or helped at some point. Any money raised will go to his pharmaceutical bills, treatment, food and utilities.
