Wisp is a very special dog who has touched many people's lives and made their days lighter. She has been a constant source of joy and support for all of her 5 years on this Earth.
For once in her short life, she needs help from others. On Thursday January 4th, Wisp was hospitalized with what has been discovered to be a rare and serious case of MUO. It's entirely undetectable until it presents and their is no known preventative. There is a treatment though, and she is currently receiving it. All signs have been encouraging. Her lungs and appetite are unaffected.
Wisp is strong and she's with the best at Penn. The doctor is as optimistic as can be given the seriousness.
As these next days go on we will know:
If the drugs work.
If she looks to have any permanent hinderance to her mobility.
The only way for her to have a fighting chance is to keep her in intensive care and under the eye of her neurologist.
Obviously all of this has been exhorbitantly expensive. Her current estimated cost for her MRI, Spinal Tap, drugs, and hospital stay is $11,000.
She has a lot of life to live and many many people that love her. We are hopeful we can reach our goal and bring her back into all those lives.
