Wishwa Bandu Ellepola (1st March 1951 - 23 July 2020). Born to Tikiri Banda Ellepola and Rupa Ellepola in the village of Gokarella, Sri Lanka, he passed away in London at the age of 69.
He was husband to Mrs Srimathie Ellepola, father to Tharindu and Dinidu Ellepola and brother to Upendra Ellepola, Sarath Ellepola and Sujatha Ellepola.
He became an Attorney-at-Law in 1980 and developed a practice in Kurunegala before migrating to the UK with his wife and children. There, he qualified as a Solicitor and practiced law in the UK for a large part of his life. He was actively involved in community and charitable causes, particularly within the Sri Lankan and Buddhist communities. He helped a great many people and will be remembered for his generosity, kindness and compassion.
Mr Wishwa Ellepola devoted much of his time to improving the living conditions of villagers in Gokarella. As a tribute to both his efforts and his memory, a charitable Fund has been set up in his name. Donations will go towards enhancing medical services and facilities in the village.
