Hope & Wishes for Whiskey

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Whiskey. I’m a 2 year old, Quarter Horse, my birthday is on Valentine’s Day which explains my loving personality.

When my mom first bought me, I had ever so slightly uneven heels in my front feet, but I got a clean bill of health &  went off to start my new wonderful life.   My mom kept up on my trimming but due to unforeseen circumstances my farrier got hurt & was no longer able to work. My mom then went off a recommendation & I was seen my another farrier.   Unfortunately this farrier cut me way too short, to the point where I was really hurting & lame for 2.5 weeks. My mom contacted my vet immediately & talked to the farrier.  We weren’t able to get him to pay for anything so my mom had to pay out of pocket for everything.

We switched to my mom’s old farrier that she used for her old horse that had severe navicular disease. He said that me hooves were not growing back correctly. That my heels were growing back very uneven, and my toes were too short & it was causing me to walk funny and to be painful.  We ever so slowly started treating my hooves and i seemed to be doing better.  For a while we thought I was fine, but little did we know.

about 2 weeks ago when my mom came out to see me, I could barely walk.  My mom called my farrier and vet right away.  We did a full exam, Including  X-rays & ultrasound of all of my legs.  I now have a contracted acquired flexoral deformity of my suspensory due to my heels being so uneven, I have no sole depth (no cushion) and my joints are now growing in a weird angle.

The vet said I have a good chance of recovering with proper treatment & that there’s a small chance that I’ll  be able to do light work/be in pasture.  My mom does not want to give up on me. She currently isn’t working due to Covid19 & she has health issues herself & I need special shoes & to see the vet every 2.5 weeks to make sure I’m okay.  My mom has some savings but it won’t cover everything for the next few months & she desperately wants to save me.    Her parents won’t help her pay for me either at this time.

Please help my mom save me. She is doing everything she can  to keep me. She knows what might happen to me if I’m not with her, and that breaks her heart. She wants to give me the life I deserve & to give me a chance to live.  Any amount will help and will go 100% to all my medical bills. I will need treatment every 2.5 weeks and it’s adding up for my mom.    Thank you for reading this & forhelping me if you can.

love, Whiskey
