Wish Me in Action - Uplift Children and Mothers

This year, I’m excited to support a meaningful cause: Jan Kirkos, an initiative dedicated to uplifting children and mothers facing hardship. Operating under the Ethiopian Jandereba Generation, Jan Kirkos focuses on providing long-term support to families striving to build a better future.

The funds, a total of 45,000 Birr for three years, will go toward child sponsorship, health insurance, and helping mothers launch small-scale businesses. As part of my birthday campaign this year, I’m aspiring to sponsor 10 children for three years with your kind support, through your birthday cake and coffee purchases for me. I truly appreciate every contribution in advance, big or small.

In 2015 and 2016, I used mobile card number donations to raise funds. In detail:

• In 2015, 22,300 ETB helped us purchase shelves and books for Victory Deaf School’s library.

• In 2016, 33,020 ETB helped us feed lunch throughout the academic year to 13 children under our Glimmer project. Due to different reasons, we had a leftover of 16,000 ETB from the money raised, which was used for the 2017/18 academic year.

Since 2017, I’ve targeted friends that reside overseas, though many have participated from home. In detail:

• In 2017, I raised $1560 (USD) for Hamlin Fistula.

• In 2018, I raised $2000 (USD) for the Ethiopian National Association of Deaf Blind (ENADB).

• In 2019, I raised $2452 (USD) to sponsor 17 seniors for a year under Mary Joy Developmental Association. (i.e., 17 seniors were covered until August 4, 2020)

• In 2020, I raised $2,273 for the Ethiopian National Association of Deaf Blind (ENADB).

• In 2021, I raised $2885 to celebrate Zemi’s beautiful soul, to send love and solidarity to children with autism, and support Nia Foundation.

• In 2022, I raised $1640 (total in local currency 148,000 ETB) to celebrate comedian Dokle’s soul and to send greetings and support to his beloved family.

• In 2023, I raised $3030 to sponsor a Christian sister under the “Megdelawit Mariam” project, which operates under the Mahibere Kidusan organization.

• In 2024, I raised $3245 to support Christian mothers (nuns) in producing sanitary pads.
