Wiser Girls School - Annual Dwight Global Trip

Hi, my name is Eliza Pritchard, and I am a Dwight Global High School senior. Dwight Global is a global community of students and faculty that balances the high academic experience while pursuing an active and rigorous schedule of students' individual passions.

I want to share with you some information about the WISER school, which is located in Kenya (The Women's Institute for Secondary Education and Research). For the past three years, I have worked with them through different clubs and organizations within my school. I have been a member of the WISER club and was promoted to editor-in-chief of the Harambee online publication, a nonprofit magazine published in collaboration with the WISER school. This magazine highlights creative pieces that have a humanitarian focus in order to dismantle the cycle of illiteracy and poverty among young women in Muhuru Bay, Kenya, and amplify the humanitarian voices of today's youth.

In years past, students and faculty from Dwight Global have visited WISER, but due to COVID-19, we have been unable to travel in person for the past three years. I have had the privilege to work with WISER school staff on many occasions and have had the opportunity to meet and talk to many of the girls at WISER over zoom, so it has been a dream of mine to visit in person.

From March 16-25, 2023, Dwight Global has a trip planned to visit the Wiser School, and I have the opportunity to travel with other students from around the world to Kenya and spend time visiting, learning from, and volunteering with the girls. The trip is expensive, and my school does not offer any financial aid, so I am covering what I can with the funds I made working this summer. But I am looking for your help to raise the rest of the money.

The money raised will cover my travel, meals, accommodations, and WISER program fee. Any additional money raised will be donated to the school. If I cannot raise enough funds to attend, all monies raised will be donated to the school in total.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me, and I look forward to sharing my experience with you in person and online.
