Wipeout Colin Stewart's Cancer

Donation protected
What’s happened?
Colin Stewart has recently been diagnosed with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma (often referred to as neck or tongue cancer). He has a golf ball-sized tumor at the base of his tongue and the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes. Colin is an otherwise strong, healthy and determined, so we have high hopes for a positive outcome the cancer he has.

Please help me, help him, wipeout this cancer
Colin (60) is my brother, and his partner Janet (58) and I have been friends since we were 12 years old. I often tell people Colin stole her from me, but the real truth is he made her a member of our family. They are also uncle and aunt to my son Cal among other nieces and nephews. We love them both very much, and I find myself feeling what we all feel when a loved one is hurt, sick, in pain, or at risk of dying. We wish we could do more to help and reaching out to you is my way of doing more.

Why the need and how donations can help
Colin and Janet live in Fernie, BC and there is no access to the required treatment in their town. The 6 – 8 week daily therapy of radiation and possibly chemotherapy require both of them to relocate to Kelowna, BC. A separate trip is also likely required for the PET scan and oncology consultation before the full treatment program begins.

They are both self-employed which will result in a loss of wages for the 2 to 3 month treatment and post treatment recovery time. Colin and Janet have worked hard and financial losses required them to start over in their 50’s to rebuild a small safety net for old age. Relieving some of the financial stress will go a long way to help Colin focus on healing and contribute to the positive health outcome we hope for.
Funds raised will be used specifically for medical expenses not covered by BC health, travel and accommodation expenses, and minimum base monthly expenses while they are away from home (food, rent, heat, electric, insurance, communication etc.).

Should unused funds remain, they will be donated to Angel Flight of British Columbia.

Wipeout the cancer!
Colin is an active outdoorsman who skied, mountain biked and hiked most of his life and has survived many wipeouts. I have high hopes he will survive many more. Let’s help him wipeout cancer and stop cancer from wiping him out!
