Hi, my name is David Tester and I am running the Chelmsford marathon in the 12th October to help raise funds for wipe away those tears.

wipe away those tears are a small but impactful Essex based charity that bring joy and support to children in need. They have helped 1000+ children with life limiting illnesses or disabilities by funding mobility equipment, specialised wheelchairs as well as physio and much more.

When my son Charlie was born, We were filled with uncertainty and worry. Around 10 months old he was diagnosed with 18p chromosome deletion syndrome which is a rare genetic condition. Part of his chromosome 18 is missing. This can lead to developmental, growth, medical and behavioural challenges. Unfortunately as this is such a rare condition the NHS do not provide adequate enough support and this is where Wipe away those tears have stepped in.

They have paid for private physio sessions worth £1000 to help Charlie’s development
