Winter Feed & Bedding Appeal 2024

Dear Supporter,

As often happens, this has been a rollercoaster year here at Donegal Donkey Sanctuary. We have experienced the loss of some of our precious residents but have also had the tremendous pleasure of raising Baby Rose whose courage and determination to survive against all odds has warmed our hearts and filled our days with fun. However with summer grazing ended and winter fast approaching we must ensure that we have enough feed and bedding to get our resident donkeys through the winter. Tonight everyone is tucked up warm and dry in the stables and barns and it is our responsibility to make sure that all their needs are met.

Little Rose and her many donkey friends rely on the generosity of our wonderful supporters to make sure that all tummies are full and that everyone has a warm, cosy bed to settle down in as Christmas approaches.

The ongoing cost of caring for so many donkeys is a constant pressure and the catastrophic summer has led to skyrocketing prices for bales of hay and straw. Once again many haulage contractors are having to look to the U.K. for supply and this drives up the cost of the end product.

The one situation that remains unchanged is the number of donkeys who need our help. The recent arrival of seven souls on the one day has swelled our numbers to unprecedented levels.

Our determination to meet their needs is as strong as ever . We cannot let them down.
