Becoming a second grade teacher has been one of the most challenging, yet rewarding jobs I could have imagined. Stepping into the classroom, I had no idea what to expect. I knew obstacles were ahead, yet I never thought my seven year old students would be able to re-frame adversity in such a riveting, uplifting way. Each day I work tirelessly to provide everything in my power for my students. However, the economic hardships that come along with Title 1, community schools can feel insurmountable. As winter intensifies, I worry about my students who do not have coats and boots to keep them warm on their walk to school. Although I want to provide everything for them, it is not feasible for me to do this alone. I am asking you to donate anything you can, so that we can give these students a reason to smile as they make their way to school, cozy and ready for a full day of learning.
