Hi, we are Rob and Gem and we're fundraising for our precious boy Winston.

At first, we thought Winston was a bit constipated as he was struggling to go to the toilet. He seemed to pass normally that evening and was walking fine. The following morning he seemed very odd and didn't seem like his normal bubbly self. He got up to move but his back legs weren't working very well. He managed to go to the toilet again but it didn't seem voluntary and he wasn't all that aware of it.

We took him to the vet that same morning who came back with his blood results and said he was a very happy and healthy dog. However, his back right leg was unresponsive which means he has a spinal issue.

He was seen by a neurosurgeon the following morning who said his scan showed two bulging discs and that on a scale of 1-5 (1-best case scenario, 5-work case scenario) Winston was a 3 going on 4. He would need an immediate operation that day with the total cost of the procedure costing £7100. Unfortunately, our insurance would only cover up to £4000 for the scan and surgery meaning we would have to find the extra £3100 to cover the cost. Never in a million years would we ever consider this to be an issue as our boy is worth more than any amount of money.

After being given all of this information we were given two options to choose from;
1) Surgery that day and a 70% chance of making a recovery
2) Put him to sleep

Option 2 was never an option with his chances of recovery being so high so we opted for surgery to give our boy the best chance of returning to normal.

Later that day we were given a phone call to let us know his surgery was a success! However, we now have a very long road ahead for his recovery which will span many months if not years.

The funds raised from your very kind donations will be going towards the following;

1) Physiotherapy sessions to help him regain the function of his rear
2) Hydro-therapy sessions to help strengthen his legs and allow him to exercise in a safe environment
3) A pram which can hold Winston when we go for walks whilst he's immobile
4) A rear wheel frame specially designed for Corgis when he is well enough to use it

Thank you in advance to everyone who donates towards our cause and helps us to give Winston a fighting chance at living a normal life again. Anyone who knows us will know that Winston means everything to us and that he is the kindest, most loving and most amazing dog we could have ever wished for. Naturally, Winston thanks you too!
