I found Winston on Craigslist in the summer of 2019, from a sweet Amish family that unexpectedly had puppies they couldn't care for. He came into my life when I needed him most, and his middle name is Jude - he took a sad song and made it better. We now live in a small house in Cedar Rapids with his new little sister, Flo (who we rescued shortly before he got sick and can't wait to play with him), and his kitty sister, Luna.

Four months ago, I noticed Winston was struggling to pee outside, so we immediately got him into our primary vet (Petersen Pet Hospital). After months of negative tests for cancer, ultrasounds, x-rays, and medications that didn't help, they referred us to Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center. He has lost 20% of his weight, is barely eating and drinking, and has lost the happy boy energy he's always had.

Winston has always been our bouncy boy who greets us at the door with a big smile, even if we just left to get the mail. He loves to sleep in with his mom on the weekends, go for long walks and car rides, visit his friends, and attend family events to see his favorite people. He may be bad at catching flies (no matter how hard he tries) and scared of the basement, but he is the biggest lover boy.

Winnie is too ill for diagnostics so we don't know how to treat him. We had 2 choices: say goodbye or hospitalize for fluids/feeding tube until we can diagnose and come up with a treatment plan. The stay alone is $8000+, much more than we have. We are staying nearby in an Airbnb while he is in the ICU, so we can be close for visits and emergencies.

We miss our happy, healthy boy who should be playing and snuggling. We are not prepared to say goodbye without knowing we did everything we can for him.
