Winona Senior High Alum loses his mother months after fire

My name is Cathleen Faruque, I am an alum of Winona Senior High class of 1976 and this GOFUNDME has been created to raise funds for Robert C. Hanson (a high school classmate), who just days ago lost his mother. This is just a few months after Robert and his mother Janet lost everything they owns\ed in a fire in Goodview, MN Robert C. Hanson was a classmate of mine at Winona Senior High School.

Current funds will be used to help Robert C. Hanson with expenses related to his mother's funeral. Further, Robert will need help to again move to a smaller apartment as he no longer needs a bigger/more expensive apartment to accommodate his mother.

Janet Hanson passed away at the age of 84 years young. She was an active member of the Winona community and a member and volunteer with the Odd Fellows of Winona since 1969. She will be deeply missed.

We can't imagine the grief and struggles that Robert has been going through with the loss of his mother and the loss of everything he owned. Rebuilding one's life in their 60's is certainly a great challenge, but to rebuild during such grief, is unimaginable.

Funerals can cost well over $10,000 and Robert is Janet's only child. The burden of these costs must be truly difficult to bear at this time.

Please help me to help Robert in covering these expenses. It will not ease his grief, but it will ease his financial burden! Thank you.

The afternoon of Friday, March 29th, an apartment building in Goodview, MN was left in rubble by a terrible fire. In a heartbeat, all the residents lost their homes and all their belongings.

Bob Hanson (WSHS Class of 1976) and his mother, Jan lost everything but the clothes they were wearing in the fire. Having nothing but the clothes on their backs, Bob and Jan are currently staying in a hotel in town.

Bob and Jan really need help to start over again. We can't replace the irreplaceable memories that are accumulated over a lifetime and precious family items but we can help them start over! Funds are needed for expenses of new housing, furniture and furnishings, clothing, medications, and essentials.

During these trying times, we rely on the compassion and generosity of friends, neighbors, loved ones, acquaintances, and strangers with kind hearts. We fully recognize that hardships touch each of our lives in different ways. If you cannot contribute, please spread the word about this fund, which can make a significant difference.

By coming together, we have a real chance to aid Bob and Jan in rebuilding their lives after this unforeseen loss. Such moments indeed highlight the resilience and solidarity of our classmates and our community.
